High Voltage Substation Design

We delivered a 22kV/11kV high-voltage substation design for an industrial client operating through a utility network in Western Australia, engineered to a firm capacity of 3.5 MVA. The scope covered system studies, switchyard and substation layouts, and full specification of transformers and switchgear. Our team focused on delivering a fully compliant, Issued-for-Construction design package built for reliable long-term operation.

The project incorporated single-line diagrams, detailed electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, switchyard layouts, earthing and lightning layouts, and cable schedules. Protection coordination studies, relay grading, and interlocking logic were carried out alongside earthing design with touch and step voltage calculations and arc-flash risk mitigation. The completed design delivered enhanced personnel safety, optimised protection and control redundancy, and a scalable framework ready for future load growth and SCADA integration.
